A video called "The Slap" went viral today. Screenwriter Max Landis got a bunch of friends together and asked them to hit each other in the face. Everyone was hit as hard as THEY asked to be hit. I figured, what a great thing for me to get away with doing at work! Thanks to my coworker Mandy Morgan from "Mike And Mandy In The Morning" on our sister station WRVR for letting me hit her in the face! Enjoy!
It's really easy to fall into the same patterns and routines. Whether you've been living in the same place for a long time, are used to going to your favorite places to eat/have fun, or maybe been in a relationship for a while and get lazy... we all love to do what's familiar. I can't tell you how many times I've said to myself, "I want to branch out, I want to try something different." Or if my boyfriend suggests we do something during the week I brush it off because I get up at 3 in the morning and it's hard to do something during the week. Sometimes, you have to just say "to heck with it" and go outside your comfort zone. Since I've moved to Memphis, I've relied on new friends and the BF to take me to the places that I can enjoy. Now, it's become the same thing. Work, gym, frequent our favorite restaurant or coffee shop. On birthdays or holidays is when we've tried something like a cooking class, etc. But why not see what's in your own backyard on a random day?
For Paint Nite, you not only get to pick what painting you want to do and what day you want to do it, but it's also something different and fun that you can do for cheap! With my groupon it cost me $22.50 for two and a half hours of fun! I've NEVER picked up a paintbrush ever to touch a canvas in a professional way, and I was really worried that my end result would STINK! But what was really cool is that it's not even about that! It's something that my BF and I had BOTH never done and we can have FUN WITH IT! We enjoyed some drinks, relaxed and even had a friendly competition! The best part? There was 40 people in the class and not one painting looked the same even though we were all there to paint the same thing! YOU GET YOUR CREATIVE JUICES FLOWING! Go to paintnite.com and give them a try!
Yesterday Memphis' American Heart Association hosted their 2014 Go Red For Women Luncheon event to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases and strokes. Heart disease is a silent killer, and their goal is to raise money to help save women in the future and shatter the silence!
I hosted their fashion show and it was truly an honor. Enjoy!
